‘High Summer,’ is being held on the 7th June downstairs and upstairs at The Social. We are bringing you an eclectic medley of artists which we believe will cater for all your interests. From twee folk to lo-fi pop, right through to something you can shake your thing too. Radar afterwards too, we hope to entertain you all day long.

Starting in the afternoon downstairs from about 2pm, there will a buffet-style (free) food on offer whilst you sit back and relax to acoustic brilliance from the likes of the excellent, Phantom Dog, Joe Jones, Rob (ex Computerman) and a few more to be confirmed…
Then the real fun begins…Artists confirmed so far to play upstairs come in the form….

SJ Esau, experimental pop brilliance on the truly wonderful Anticon label. His first appearance in Nottingham. Miss at your own peril

I Love Sarah; Belgium avant pop-duo. Think ‘That Fucking Tank’ but with Casio and Saxophone. According to their bio, expect ‘armpit rambling rambling rock’ mixed with ‘armpit fresh rambling pop’. Just supported Battles.

My Sad Captains, Simply sublime, melodic lo-fi… ’like calexico’s poppier cousins…genuinely tuneful country tinged songs.’ (The Fly)
Sigma, On the up and coming Lost and Young’s label, ‘The Fly’ tip these for 2007…so come see what all the hype is about.

Gentle Friendly; The bizarre dischordant sound of summertime pop and electronics exploding. Wonderful.

The line-up is nearly complete but there may be a few surprises to mention in the forthcoming days. Expect fancy dress, record distros, cake stalls, a mix tape box (we’ll make it work this time) and presumably cheap drinks. It will be £5 on the door and £4 for high soc members and maybe if you come earlier it will be even cheaper. It’s 20 or so pounds for Dot to Dot, this is a bargain not to be missed!
