Cosmology confronts some of the most fundamental questions in all of science. How and when did our Universe begin? What is it made of? How did it acquire its current appearance? Dr. Carlos Frenk reviews the enormous progress that’s been made toward answering these questions, from recent observations establishing the existence of dark matter and dark energy to large supercomputer simulations that can re-create the evolution of the Universe. And though a coherent picture of cosmic evolution is beginning to emerge, Frenk points out the fundamental mysteries, like the nature of the dark energy, that remain unresolved.
