When Art and Politics Mix

Everyone values their time, some more than others. In most cases, work dictates that a monetary value is assigned to our time.

Have you ever looked at a piece of art and wondered how much effort went into creating it?

We have asked a select group of artists to bring their work to be sold at the gallery. We will price it and hang it. On the tag will be the cost of materials as well as the amount of time that the piece took.

Labor costs will be calculated using the soon to be minimum wage in NY State of $7.15. Realizing of course that a living wage is higher.

Our hope is that this will provoke thought and discussion about what it takes to make living as an artist. As well as allow you to buy some damn cheap art!
