The oldest democracy in Asia, Japan is widely regarded as a mature, fully institutionalized democracy but faces stubborn political and economic challenges. Democratized only 20 years ago, South Korea and Taiwan have made remarkable progress, but face renewed tensions and continuing challenges with their respective neighbors. From the impact of the global economic crisis to issues concerning regional security, a distinguished panel will examine the popular commitment to democracy in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Afterwards, enjoy a lovely wine reception.
