The Free Speech Comedy Art Series Evening of Stand-Up Comedy featuring Doug Stanhope at Revolutions International Theatre Festival January 21, 2007

Paul Provenza, the director of the 2005 documentary The Aristocrats, returns to Revolutions to host and produce the first evening of The Free Speech Comedy Art Series Evening of Stand-Up Comedy featuring Doug Stanhope, a provocative, hysterical evening of comedy with a purpose. The power of the single voice to provoke social change has been a prime agenda for comedians and artists for generations. The tradition is kept alive in this one-night event.

Paul Provenza has performed throughout the world in various comedy clubs, stages, and concert halls. His stand-up engagement at the 2006 Revolutions Festival was a sell-out, as was his directorial project, Nigerian Spam Scam Scam, which has now been performed around the globe.

Doug Stanhope has worked as a comic since 1990. His material ranges from true-life graphic perversion to volatile social criticism. Doug is vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited, is certainly not everyone’s “cup of tea,” and is one of the smartest and most provocative comedians working in the world today. He hosted The Man Show on Comedy Central and has appeared on The Howard Stern Show, Comedy Central Presents, Spy TV, and BBC’s Floor Show Live. For mature audiences only.
