The Festival of Lights, a community Hanukkah celebration, at the Osher Marin JCC Music, art fair, book fair, crafts, food - fun for all ages

The Osher Marin JCC invites the community to The Festival of Lights, a family Hanukkah Celebration, December 6, 2009 from 12-4pm at the Osher Marin JCC in San Rafael. All are welcome to this free event.

It's a day of fun and celebration with something to inspire you no matter what your age. Come shop our premier arts fair featuring over 25 local artists with great seasonal gifts, art, and jewelry. Meet your favorite author at our Book Fair, benefiting the Osher Marin JCC's Early Childhood Education Program and Brandeis Hillel Day School. Author presentations and book signings by Annie Fox, Diane Frankenstein, Susan Wells, Karen Kushner, Elissa Hayden Guest, David Ginsburg, and Elisa New.

Adults and children will delight in spending time in our beautiful art studio learning how to make rolled bees wax candles and menorahs. Hanukkah food will be available for purchase - traditional latkas (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (Hanukkah jelly donuts), as well as Mediterranean fare! There will be Klezmer and Holiday music by acclaimed singer Ben Brussell, the lead singer of Klezmania and the Brandeis Hillel Day School Jazz band. We will have Osher Marin JCC Scholar Rabbi Darren Kleinberg on-site answering questions and presenting the 'Real Story of Hanukkah'.

Family Connections, a program from 9:30-11:30am for families with children three and under, will feature Hanukkah craft activities, food, dreidel games, and children's music. Come early to see The Buddy Club -- featuring comedy magicians The Flying Calamari Brothers from 11-12pm. This performance is great for the whole family!
