San Francisco’s favorite 80’s dance party takes it up a knotch with live performances by The English Beat and The Plimsouls. Hailing from Birmingham, England, The English Beat formed in 1979 consisting of Dave Wakeling (vocals and guitar), Andy Cox (guitar), David Steele (bass), Everett Morton (drums), Ranking Roger (vocals), and Saxa (saxophone). The band produced a concoction of catchy soul, reggae, and pop-punk. Playing in the local scene along with The Specials, The Selecter, and Madness, The English Beat emerged as one of the most prominent bands of the British ska movement.
