"Innovation: not a destination but a journey

Innovation has become rather fashionable these days. It is promoted as a panacea by a range of pundits, from academics to management gurus. Yet business has always been about innovation.

New products, new services, new business models, new payment instruments...The companies that have thrived down the years have always seen innovation not as a bolt-on but as central to everything they do.

The Economist’s Sixth Annual Innovation Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner will take place on October 18th 2007 at the Science Museum, London. We will, once again, celebrate and discuss the achievements of the men and women whose radical ideas have propelled their businesses into sparsely populated realm of super-innovator.

There will also be a special award recognising the Corporate use of innovation."
