The Drones formed in Perth and moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2002. Their music does not fit easily into conventional rock music categories - it is cathartic, intense and thunderous yet is folk- and blues-based with strong song structures. Their sound has been described as "a car crash inside a washing machine."
