The Dodos plus The Ruby Suns October 29, 2009

Multi-instrumentalist, Meric Long, originally formed The Dodos in 2006 as a one-man act called Dodobird. Long got turned onto country blues fingerpicking and sought to create a band where the drumming could be a center role. That band came to fruition when Long met Logan Kroeber who had also been experimenting with drumming but in the area of progressive metal. The Dodos deliver an unpredictable rush of vibrant words, melodies, and rhythms. They layer feedback over elaborate acoustic picking and booming, thumping drums. Though the Dodos play mostly acoustic instruments, they generate remarkable energy and intensity. For their third album, Time to Die, Kroeber and Long teamed with Keaton Snyder who offered up his vibraphone skills. Time to Die was released earlier this month. www.myspace.com/thedodos
