Martin Scorsese’s slick, masterful interpretation of the great Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs features Boston as a backdrop to the story of two men separated by the thin line between law and order. One is a criminal under the thumb of a Whitey Bulger-esque crime boss who has infiltrated the police force; the other is a cop from the wrong side of the expressway who has been sent undercover into the same operation. Highlighted by bravura performances by Jack Nicholson (as the crime boss), Mark Wahlberg, and Alec Baldwin alongside more understated but still powerful turns by Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Sheen.
