"The Classics Meet the Silver Screen" film series continues with a movie based on theErnest Hemingway novel The Sun Also Rises on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Tigard Library. Starring Errol Flynn, Tyrone Power and Ava Gardner, the movie was filmed on location in Pamplona, Paris, Biarritz and Mexico.
The series continues on Tuesday, September 29, at 10:30 a.m. with the film based on author Edith Wharton's novel The Age of Innocence. Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder star as wealthy 1870s New Yorkers caught in a tragic love triangle, struggling to break free from social codes and mores.
Films will show on the big screen in the Community Room. They are based on books selected by the Library's adult book groups. The Tigard Public Library is located at 13500 S.W.
