Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (Robert Wiene, 1920, 71 min) is one of the earliest, most influential and most artistically acclaimed German Expressionist films. The film tells the story of the deranged Dr. Caligari and his faithful sleepwalking Cesare, and their connection to a string of murders in a German mountain village, Holstenwall.

Organized by the Transnational Film and Media Studies Collaborative and Jason McGrath, professor of Asian Languages and Literatures.
