Claire Trevor School of the Arts and the Department of Music Gassmann Electronic Music Series present flutist-composer Anne La Berge performing a concert of flute and electronics, produced by Christopher Dobrian, professor of music at UC Irvine.

La Berge will present a program of new works for flute and electronics, featuring works by English composer Michael Young, German/Croatian composer Marko Ciciliani, and herself. The works range from fully composed to guided improvisations, and include interactions with the computer not only as a musical partner but also as a means to tell stories.

Earlier the same day from 1:00 – 2:20 p.m. in Room 216 of the Music and Media Building, La Berge will perform the work “Resonant Dendrites” and will discuss her approaches to interaction with technology. She and her scientist father, David La Berge, have created a work that integrates their knowledge and passions. This process of collaboration between neuropsychology and art is articulated in the form of a lecture/performance using video clips, sound clips, and performance. “Resonant Dendrites” looks at creative explanations of recent neuropsychological findings. The lecture is free and open to the public.
