Silhouette Theatre Company is pleased to announce their second production - the Denver Premiere of Jane Anderson's The Baby Dance.
An upscale duo from Los Angeles are eager to adopt a baby from a trailer-park-dwelling Louisiana family in award-winning playwright Jane Anderson's timely look at the social and economic issues surrounding private adoptions. The dance these couples do during the weeks before the baby's birth is fraught with friction. Both wear their desperation on their sleeves--one driven by poverty to sell their baby, the other by infertility to basically buy it. The play skates between the comic and dramatic, as it moves to its poignant finish.

The cast, under the direction of Paul Jaquith, includes Michelle Hurtubise as Rachel, Johanna Jaquith as Wanda, Matt Maxwell as Ron, David Trudeau as Al and Ryan Wuestewald as Richard.

The Baby Dance will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays; 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, opening January 12 and running through February 5 at the John Hand Theater in Lowry, 7653 E. 1st Place, Denver, CO 80230. Emmy Award-winner Jane Anderson wrote and directed several critically acclaimed television movies, notably Normal (2003), starring Jessica Lange; The Baby Dance (1998), starring Stockard Channing and Laura Dern; The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom (1993), Egyptian Pyramids starring Holly Hunter, and If These Walls Could Talk 2 starring Vanessa Redgrave. She became a writer for the AMC television drama Mad Men and was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Dramatic Series at the February 2009 ceremony for her work on the second season.
