The Art of Visual Story Telling Workshop April 15, 2009

Digital Alberta is pleased to present, in partnership with the Banff New Media Institute, an intensive workshop at The Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta April 16 - 19, 2009. This workshop will be featuring animation experts including:
Steve Rabatich (2-D and 3-D animator, Toy Story)
Rich McKain (3-D animator - Pixar, Ice Age, Ice Age 2)
Dean Yeagle (Disney, Warner Bros, MGM)
Jason Strong - Dreamworks
John Hoffman - Monkey Feather

This year’s story telling work shop is focused on the Art of Visual Storytelling. Our guest speakers are Rich Mckain, Dean Yeagle, Jasen Strong, Steve Rabatich, and John Hoffman.

We will hear how each of these individuals deal with the visual side of storytelling in, illustration, character design, 2d and 3d animation, and story boarding.

These individuals have worked or are currently working for Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Bluesky, 20th Century Fox, Playboy, and many many more. Their Credits include, UP!, Horton Hears a Who, Shark Tale, One Mandy Morning, Toy Story, Heavy Metal, Madagascar, and more!

After we hear from the speakers you will have a chance to meet one and one.

The second day of the event you will be broken into 5 teams one presenter will be mentoring each group. You will be given the task of visually creating a story element. On the last day each team will present their project and receive feedback and critique from the presenters.
