Schedule: May 7, 14, 21 – 6:30pm to 8:30pm {Evening Course}

Tutor: Gabriela Delworth {Graphic Designer – Instructor – Crafts Designer}

Who is The Art of Assemblage Workshop designed for?
Her unique workshops are designed for all of you who would love to reuse and salvage: paper, fabric, ribbon scraps, trims, bits and bobs on beautiful assemblages. *Assemblage is an artistic process in which a three-dimensional artistic composition is made from putting together found objects.
It’s the 3-dimensional cousin of collage.
Whether you're crafty or craft-challenged, this course teaches you how to design unique assemblages using a variety of techniques and your own materials.

The benefits of attending the workshop are:

• Students will learn a great deal about how popular assemblages are today and how they can add them to their own decor.
• They will recycle their material remnants they had at home into artful pieces that might be suitable for home décor or special gifts.
• They will also learn about: design, colour and the best materials combinations. You will be amazed with your finished product.
• They will leave the workshop with their very own assemblage!
Attendees will discover how easy and fun Assemblage is. Gabriela will bring many great ideas on how to put these unique pieces of art together. By connecting with people you'll tap into your natural creativity and create beautiful crowns. The workshops are very hands on and participants walk out with a completed project. Spend quality time your friends, colleagues, neighbors, or family members. Invite them to the class! Bring along your favorite “gals”! Have fun!

INTRODUCTION TO ASSEMBLAGE
May 7:
Meet Gabriela! She will give a brief lecture on assemblage history and will present you with a few sample designs, although students will work on their very own design. Students will learn about the materials {your own} to be used in the project. A demonstration will follow. The focus will be on choosing your own style and colours for your assemblage. Students are encouraged to bring any vintage photos, letters, tags or mementos they might want to incorporate into their compositions. They will choose their crown colours. They will learn about proportion/balance, design, colour and layout styles.

CHOOSING BEAUTIFUL EMBELLISHMENTS FOR YOUR ASSEMBLAGE
May 14:
Students will then be ready to put together their assemblages. Gabriela will comment about their materials and embellishments such as ribbons, luxurious cords, and appliqués with the class. Students will then choose their own selection. They will learn how to put together beautiful compositions.

PUTTING YOUR ASSEMBLAGE TOGETHER
May 21:
Students will then have a finished assemblage. They will give it the finish touches. Gabriela will talk about how their assemblages reveal their mood and personalities.
*The last class is always the most exciting one and the one students never want to leave from…So we will have a contest, students will vote for the best assemblage. The winner will get a packet of beautiful embellishments, courtesy of Gabriela your instructor.

What should I bring?
You will bring your own materials and embellishments to use on your assemblage! Canvas, journals, small boxes, you decide what to embellish! Suggested tools are: scissors, pencil, needle and thread…
You can always add more tools depending on the nature your assemblage.
*Gabriela always recommends wearing an apron {or any kind of protective clothes} when crafting to protect your clothes.
Students will leave with their beautifully assemblages on their last class.
They will also receive informative handouts summarizing what materials they have used {including suggestions and tips} as well as what they have learned during the entire workshop.
