The San Francisco Wine Auction is the largest of its kind in San Francisco, and has been a signature Guardsmen fundraising activity for the past 30 years. This year’s occasion will feature approximately 75 silent auction items and 50 live auction items with prices ranging from $100 to $75,000. The black-tie event begins with one and one-half hours of wine tasting and silent auction bidding, featuring 20 top-tier wineries from California. Seating for Michael Mina’s three-course dinner begins at 7:30pm, with a number of tables sponsored by our wineries. Corporate sponsorships entitle corporate sponsors to sit at tables hosted by our top-tier winery sponsors. Professional auctioneer Fritz Hatton, of Auction Napa Valley fame, will showcase exceptional wine, travel and other specialty lots. Bidding is fast-paced, electrifying and often boisterous – over the course of which several hundred thousand dollars will be raised for charity. The band Notorious will provide dancing and entertainment after the live auction.

The Guardsmen is a non-profit organization founded in 1947 for the purpose of helping disadvantaged children in the greater Bay Area. The all-volunteer membership organizes various activities that raised over $1,400,000 last year. The Guardsmen’s efforts will offer thousands of at-risk children the opportunity to attend summer camp and will provide support to Bay Area youth throughout the year. Additionally, funding will ensure that over 200 children, largely from single parent homes living at, or below, the federal poverty level will receive scholarships to attend independent schools.
