In an effort to help stimulate the economy, Thach Nguyen, a former Vietnamese refugee who lived in a homeless shelter, has partnered with Bank of America, Chicago Title and other companies to offer more than $1,200 in discounts on products and services related to buying a home.

The companies plan to announce even more savings at the first of many First Time Home Buying seminars they will host every month in 2009. The first seminar will be Jan. 24, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Jefferson Community Center, 3801 Beacon Ave. S. in Seattle.

At the seminar, Thach and others in the real estate industry will talk about current real estate market trends, how to find a loan that meets your needs and walk you through the home buying process at the seminar. You'll also hear Thach's personal story about how he went from homelessness to becoming a millionaire by owning real estate.

Some of the companies providing discounts, products and services include Bank of America, Chicago Title, Lowe's, Banwer Transfer, and home inspector Stu Anderson.
