This series of talks by and about contemporary poets and artists, curated by Tim Peterson (Trace) and titled in honor of Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, explores the relationship between queer theory, poetic manifesto, poetic practice, and pedagogy. This event will feature Barbara Hammer, Christopher Schmidt, and Sarah Sarai. Barbara Hammer is an experimental filmmaker and author of Hammer! Making Movies Out of Sex and Life (The Feminist Press, 2010), whose work was recently celebrated with a month-long retrospective at MoMA. Christopher Schmidt is the author of The Next in Line, winner of the Slope Editions Book Prize (2008), and an Assistant Professor of English at LaGuardia Community College. Sarah Sarai is a poet and fiction writer; her poetry collection The Future Is Happy was released by BlazeVOX in 2009.
