October 29 - “Television Writer” with Rick Crook, Homicide Detective, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) Retired

Rick was a homicide detective for the last 16 years of his 27 years with the VPD. He is now retired. Some of his interesting cases were the murders of the 2 Dosanjh brothers, the killing of Cheryl Joe by serial killer Brian Allender and the Air India disaster. He started consulting and writing before retiring from the VPD working on TV shows such as DaVinci Inquest, Intelligence, Medical Detectives and National Geographic.

His presentation will take us through the actual experience he had as a writer, how it came about, how the episodes evolved, how the writers interact with the actors and how the characters were developed, what a typical work week would be like developing an episode and more…
