Kemptown
Brighton, England

Tekameli is a five-part gypsy band from Perpignan, France. Singing in Catalan and Calo, the ancient language of the Spanish Gypsies, Tekameli combines the flamenco guitar, rumba-inflected rhythms and emotion-laden singing of the Gypsy Kings with ecstatic religious expression. The result is both intensely personal and expansively universal. A dazzling experience.

“Refreshing in its unabashed ardor and unapologetic sense of spiritual longing.” RootsWorld

Plus Dunia, which means ‘world’ in several languages, including Hindi, Urdu and Farsi, is an inspiring group of Brighton-based musicians and dancers of diverse heritage. They present flamenco as a fusion of cultures, secular and religious, popular and traditional.
