Intelligent, well-written, Canadian folk-influenced songs played with hell-bent, rampaging abandon -- that may be why Tanglefoot was once described as "Stan Rogers meets Van Halen." Tanglefoot returns to the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street, on Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert are $16 for adults, $12 for Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library and students w/ ID and $8 under 16. They can be purchased at the Williamsburg Library or by credit card at (757) 259-4070. This is another in the series of Dewey Decibel concerts sponsored by the Williamsburg Regional Library.

Tanglefoot is a thunderous live band with a reputation for spectacular vocal harmonies. It is also a band of adept songwriters who specialize in portraying the Canadian experience. "One of Canada's most accomplished musical mythologizers," wrote one Canadian music critic, while the Canadian Folk Music Bulletin calls them, simply one of the best live groups I have ever seen. The BBC calls Tanglefoot, a powerful and dashing presence.

After more than twenty years of performing, this Canadian roots institution is stronger than ever with their double-barrel combination of deft songwriting and exhilarating performances. Combining tradition with innovation, the hilarious with the poignant, and the furious with the passionate, these five engaging and colorful performers deliver their music with a rare intensity, contagious enthusiasm and a sound as big as their native land.

Tanglefoot also enjoys the unusual claim-to-fame of having had one of their CDs fly aboard the space shuttle. "Music In The Wood" accompanied Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield into low-earth orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor in 2001. By sheer coincidence, Tanglefoot is also likely the only Canadian band ever to play at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton - Canadian culture for an auditorium full of NASA engineers and rocket scientists.
