Protect yourself from snoops, hackers, and identity thieves. Drink beer, make new friends, and learn to encrypt your data.
Systems intrusion. Deep packet inspection. Identity theft. Mass surveillance. These are just some of the many threats posed to today's Internet users. Many of these security threats can be mitigated through the use of readily available encryption technologies. However, these technologies can often be difficult to understand and even more difficult to implement correctly. A CryptoParty is a gathering of individuals of varied technological skill levels, who wish to teach and learn about the wide array of encryption technologies available to personal computer users, including which tools are most suitable to a given situation, and how to install and use them. Bring your laptop (or don't if you're extra-paranoid) and get yourself up and running with proxy servers, VPN, PGP, OTR, hard disk encryption and other methods that will help you protect your personal data from prying eyes. And drink beer. Cuz it's a party.
