Sypert Salon Series 1 - Baroque Variations October 17, 2010

The well-known melody 'La Folia' is among the oldest musical themes on record, having been used by numerous composers over the centuries. In this enticing start to the Sypert Salon Series, the orchestra's Baroque Ensemble will present versions of this famous melody line in compositions by Arcangelo Corelli, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Marin Marais and Antonio Vivaldi. Other selections on the program include Bach's expressive 'Violin Concerto in A minor,' Vivaldi's virtuosic 'Cello Concerto in C major' and Biber's beautiful 'Sonata in C'
