George Lauro
Mr. Lauro has 25 years of engineering, operating and venture capital investing experience in the IT, electronics and semiconductor sectors. Prior to joining Techfarm in 2005, he was Managing Director at Wasserstein Venture Capital. He managed Wasserstein’s Silicon Valley office and led and syndicated several venture financing rounds. Before joining Wasserstein, he was Director of Rapid Commercialization at IBM Headquarters. He was one of IBM's senior technology strategists and helped launch several ventures ranging from Radio Frequency IC's (RFICs) to Internet Applications and Pervasive Computing. He was a central architect of IBM's Silicon Germanium (SiGe) wireless IC strategy and Director of Business Development of IBM's Wireless Products Business. At Motorola, he conceived the world's first consumer handheld Global Positioning Product (Traxar GPS), invented new classes of RF transponders and launched Motorola's businesses in these spaces. He was a member of the Technical Staff of Draper Lab at MIT where he developed guidance systems for missiles and manned spacecraft. He holds 23 patents for inventions in GPS, RFID, RFICs, portable power supplies and inertial guidance.

Mr. Lauro has sat on 11 company boards including Peregrine (silicon on sapphire mixed signal chips), SMaL Camera (CMOS imagers), HotRail (terabit switch fabrics), ChipX (structured ASICs), SandCraft (MIPS-based control plane processors), Triscend (configurable embedded processors), Cognigine (OC768 packet processors) and publicly traded Software Publishing Corp.

He completed a BSEE from Brown, an MBA from Wharton and graduate work in Astronautics at MIT.
