RidgeLift Ventures

Ridgelift Ventures is an early-stage technology venture firm that believes financial success is not a random event. Success comes from identifying market trends and collaborating with excellent entrepreneurs to apply best practices and industry knowledge, ensuring optimal returns for employees and investors. Ridgelift is located in Menlo Park, California.

Ridge lift is created when wind strikes a mountain that is large and steep enough to deflect the wind upward. If the wind is strong and the ridge high, enough force is provided for gliders to stay airborne for long durations or travel great distances. It is with this kind of force that Ridgelift Ventures will propel start-up companies to success.

Dave Newman
Dave is a Managing Director of Ridgelift Ventures and joined the firm with over 25 years of operating and venture experience. Most recently Dave was a Venture Partner at Charles River Ventures where he focused on IT, Communications and Semiconductor investments. He led the successful investments in Pathscale (Acquired by QLogic, NASDAQ: QLGC) and Redline (Acquired by Juniper, NASDAQ: JNPR). In addition he managed several other CRV portfolio investments. Prior to Charles River Ventures Dave co-founded Alidian Networks and held senior operating and engineering management roles at Rapid City Communications (Acquired by Bay Networks), Fore Systems, Alantec (NASDAQ: ALTC), DEC, NCR Microelectronics and Fairchild Semiconductor. Dave continues to serve on the Boards of Directors for Lightstorm Networks, Vyatta and Cswitch. He previously served as a director for SiLutia (Acquired by AMCC) and Eonix. Dave is an acknowledged expert on communications and IT technologies.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from City College of New York, a Master of Science degree in Physics from University of Connecticut, and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University.
