Sawdust Palace
Sawdust Palace is a collection of 20 little acts in which Susan Marshall “marries the everyday with the mysterious” (Deborah Jowitt, Village Voice). In this work, the technical brilliance of the company's dancing is used to reveal the touching, and often comic, aspects of the human need for conact.

Susan Marshall's choreographic wizardry has earned her numerous accolades and awards, and in Sawdust Palace, she sets up situations with serious undertones, and then twists them to reveal their absurd, and often amusing, underside. The work, created in collaboration with the five company members who perform it, was co-commissioned by the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and first presented at Bard College's Summerfest 2007 in an outdoor spiegeltent.
