The Super Summer Art & Music Celebration at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre takes place on Saturday, June 30th from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm. This premier art and music festival is a fun, family – friendly, free event that treats you to an evening of the arts, including artistic demonstrations, performing arts including song and dance numbers by local performers, the Atlanta Workshop Players, the Broadway Dreams Foundation, and more. There will also be a Children’s Creative Corner and Play Pavilion, an artists’ market and live music featuring trumpet player extraordinaire Joey Sommerville and his exceptional band. Joining Joey will be special guests Ron James and Alex Lattimore, recent winners of the Future of Jazz Competition. The evening’s master of ceremonies is the world-famous jazz guitarist and Grammy Award Winner Earl Klugh.
The Super Summer Art & Music Celebration features trumpeter Joey Sommerville who will amaze the audience with his unique mix of be-bop and melodic soul. His talent for communing with the audience reveals itself in his eclectic combination of classic styles with the newer influences of R&B and hip-hop. His newest CD release, “Ride to This”, is laden with head-nodding, rhythm-and-blues-infused jazz tunes showcasing amazing and blazing trumpet sounds. (www.joeysommerville.com)
Saxophonist Ron James, who is featured at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, has been wowing the crowds with his melodic mixture of contemporary Jazz, Blues and Inspirational music, laced with funky rhythmic undertones. This Future of Jazz Winner will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions that speaks life into your heart and leaves a mark on your soul.
Multi-talented vocalist, composer and instrumentalist Alex Lattimore is an award winning entertainer who has received many accolades, including “Future of Jazz Finalist”, “Most Outstanding Vocalist”, and “Most Outstanding Brass Player.” He has collaborated with musical legends, including Grammy Award Winner Earl Klugh, Luther Vandross, Atlanta’s own India Arie and more. So mark your calendar today for the Super Summer Art & Music Celebration to be held on Saturday, June 30th. The fun begins at 4:00 pm, and the concert lasts from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Admission is free and reserved tables for four are available for the concert at a cost of $25.00 with all proceeds collected benefiting the programs and events offered by the South Cobb Arts Alliance.
