Peter C. Patton is Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Wesleyan University. He has received research grants from NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the Long Island Sound Research Fund. Professor Patton has studied the impact of catastrophic floods on river systems and the geologic history of river systems in semiarid climates. For nearly a decade, he studied the geomorphology of the Escalante River basin on the northern Colorado Plateau. In Connecticut, his research has focused on the hydrology and geomorphology of the Connecticut and Housatonic estuaries and the geologic development of the small coastal coves on the Connecticut shoreline. In addition to his publications in scientific journals, he coauthored A Moveable Shore: The Fate of the Connecticut Coast."
