The Japan Center Malls and the Japantown Merchants Association invite you to join us for a Sumo Champions Exhibition in the Japantown Peace Plaza.

Sumo is an ancient Japanese tradition and martial art and we're bring it to San Francisco for FREE. Join us (and bring the family) to meet real Sumo Wrestlers, learn about life as a Sumo and watch live matches.

The matches will feature the following wrestlers:
- Byamba, 6'1", 370 lbs, Mongolian, three-time World Sumo Champion, just astounding, off-the-charts charisma and Sumo athleticism.
- Kelly, 6'0", 430 lbs, three-time US Sumo Champion and Guinness World Record holder as the heaviest human ever to run a marathon (he completed in the Los Angeles Marathon in 2008 and 2011).
- Big Joe, 6'1", 350 lbs, Tongan, multi-time medalist at many US Sumo Open and other tournaments.
The Japan Center Malls and the adjacent blocks of Japantown are home to scores of unique shops and restaurants that provide a wonderful opportunity for visitors and locals alike to explore and experience the customs and culture of Japan right in the heart of San Francisco.

This event is FREE and is made possible with support from The Japan Center Malls and the Japantown Merchants Association, and in partnership with SF Weekly, the Center for Asian American Media and USA Sumo.

A Free Kids Meet and Greet from 10-10:45 AM
