Sholay (NR 1975)
Directed by Ramesh Sippy, starring Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan
Running Time: 162 mins.

A crown jewel of Bollywood cinema, Sholay is a "curry western" packed with martial-arts sequences, comedy, soap-opera melodrama, and musical numbers. When bandits murder an ex-cop’s family and amputate his arms, the victim seeks revenge. Romance, hope, and an unexpected emotional gravity ensue, replete with polished performances and stylish cinematography. Great for first-time Bollywood* filmgoers.
