Come celebrate the beginning of summer at Bahia Street’s Summer Beat. Youngstown Cultural Arts Center will be transformed into a Brazilian festival complete with tasty Brazilian food, Samba Dancers, live Brazilian and African drumming, live Bossa Nova, Samba, Brazilian Dance Music and Capoeira.

Bringing together some of the best Brazilian performers in the region, the Summer Beat festival will begin at 6 P.M with workshops in Brazilian dances and the acrobatic Brazilian martial art of Capoeira. While the majority of the event is for ages 21 and up, and alcohol will be served, these workshops are open to all ages.

Later, the live performances begin in the main theater, where authentic Brazilian food will be served, catered by Kitanda Café, while everyone dances to the music of Seattle’s premier Brazilian drum group Vamola, Brazilian samba and bossa nova musicians Sambatuque, West African drum and dance group Thione Diop and D.J Darek Mazzone from KEXP. The dancing of Tudo Beleza and Bahia in Motion dancers will be helping celebrate throughout the evening.
