Mark Ernestus

Very little is known about the people behind Germany’s legendary techno and dub imprints Basic Channel and Rhythm and Sound, but very little info is needed. Originating in Berlin, Germany in 1993, they produced a number of vinyl only releases under various aliases, each of which employed their signature brand of dissonant dub techno. Throughout their projects and sublabels Maurizio, Main Street Records, Rhythm & Sound and Burial Mix they gradually moved away from a purely electronic blueprint towards their own hybrid between electronic and more vocal-lead dub and reggae.

As well as releasing some of the most important electronic music of the last 2 decades, Mark Ernestus is also responsible for setting up the legendary record shop Hard Wax. Over the last 20 years, Hard Wax has been one of the leading specialists in electronic music in Europe and continues to stock only the very best electronic sounds from around the globe.

Tikiman (aka Paul St. Hilaire)

Tikiman (aka Paul St. Hilaire) is a reggae vocalist from the island of Dominica in the Caribbean. In 1995 he began collaborating with Rhythm & Sound who produced a series of releases featuring his vocals on their own Burial Mix label that have inspired listeners and other producers ever since. He had numerous guest appearances on electronic releases by Stereotyp, The Bug, Deadbeat, Mikkel Metal, Beat Pharmacy, Modeselektor and others. Since 2003 he has produced two solo albums for his own label False Tuned.
