ow do scholars meaningfully engage with the new American "food movement?" What types of methodologies are required to contribute as a scholar to the development of sustainable local food systems? What are some of the challenges and opportunities that have come from teaching and working in food system policy. Professor Branden Born will discuss institutional challenges in the university setting, as well as the application of university research in the urban food policy and urban agriculture setting. Examples from Seattle will include methodological development and questions, ongoing projects, and roles for public scholars and their institutions.

Branden Born is a professor in the department of Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington.
