Florida Atlantic University Libraries will host an opening reception for “Student Body Art,” an exhibition of photographs of students and their tattoos, by visual artist Z. McCarthy-Koppisch, on Saturday, May 21, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. during the “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun” open house at the Wimberly Library on FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
The photos are from “Stories on the Skin: Tattoo Culture at FAU,” a long-term creative collaboration between the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts and Karen Leader, Ph.D., of FAU’s Department of Visual Arts and Art History. McCarthy-Koppisch, an FAU alumna, is a photographer and senior designer at FAU Libraries.
The “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun” open house will be from 1 to 4 p.m. It is part of a summer celebration that honors Jaffe, the center’s founder, who this month received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from FAU, turned 90 and announced that he is retiring from the center. Other festivities include letterpress demonstrations, tours, a Poem Depot with the Miami Poetry Collective and chats with Jaffe.
“Student Body Art” and “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun,” an exhibition that honors Jaffe, run through Wednesday, August 10.
