Structure + Decay : Large Monoprints by Jenny Robinson December 11, 2010

Market Street Gallery is pleased to present "Structure + Decay" a solo exhibition by established artist, Jenny Robinson, opening December 5, 2010, and running through December 30, 2010. The artist reception will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010, from 6 PM - 8 PM. Large scale works include Gasholder #2 Blue, a gorgeous 53" x 35" monoprint with a deep blue gasholder as the center structure.

Jenny Robinson's subject matter revolves around urban environments that are in a constant cycle of decay and renewal. By exploring the dichotomy of these often abandoned structures, which are at once monumental and fragile, unsightly yet beautiful, she aims to bring attention to the drama of the overlooked and abandoned corners of the modern world.

Working on a large scale, Jenny Robinson creates compositions that exaggerate perspective and squeeze the subject matter tightly into the picture plane in order to create a sense of scale that is intended to create the same powerful impact as the structures they represent. Compositions that draw the viewer in to contemplate the ultimate fragility of our built environment.
