Kensington Gore
London, England SW72A

Friday, 13 June - Sunday, 22 June, 2008 (11 shows)

Strictly Gershwin is the dazzling celebration of George Gershwin and the sparkling age of unrivalled music and dance. Gershwin’s sassy tunes, most famously Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris, combine with Derek Deane’s sensational choreography to conjure up the Silver Screen genius of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

This glittering in-the-round production recreates the razzmatazz of the big band era, on a coast to coast journey from vibrant night clubs to the glamorous movie sets of Hollywood, in a dance spectacular of ballet, tap and salsa.

Strictly Gershwin will be accompanied by a live jazz orchestra in a nostalgic return to the famous big band sound of the forties with a guest star appearance by world-famous Broadway singer Barbara Cook.

With over 100 dancers and musicians filling the stage, the company of the English National Ballet will be joined by international ballet stars including Tamara Rojo from The Royal Ballet and Friedemann Vogel from Stuttgart Ballet.

Strictly Gershwin is the fourth production in the enormously successful collaboration between Raymond Gubbay, the Royal Albert Hall and English National Ballet. Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet and The Sleeping Beauty have thrilled audiences at the Royal Albert Hall in the round since 1997.

Strictly Gershwin is guaranteed to get your toes tapping and your spirits soaring.
