Streatham Common Kite Day April 13, 2008

This is London's only kite festival, so it's well worth making a breezy day out of it. Providing there's a good wind, kites will be soaring up to 1,000 feet over the common. You'll get to see the best kite demonstrators in the UK including Team Spectrum - a father and son team whose synchronized kite flying is choreographed to music - and Team Adrenalize - power-kiters who perform jumping, buggying, land-boarding, man-lifting and other crazy stuff. The excellent Brighton Kite Flyers will also be performing teddy bear parachute drops - bring along your bear if you want him to join in the fun. Everyone is welcome to attend this free, family event; if you want to fly you can buy all kinds of colourful kites at a stall there - or just gaze up at the high-flying entertainment.
