A Stratford Shakespeare Festival Production, 2011

Filmed before a live audience, Des McAnuff’s joyous Stratford production of Twelfth Night is set in a wonderland of music, sport and love. Featuring Ben Carlson as Feste, the bass-playing lead singer for the court, the great Brian Dennehy as the lascivious drunk Sir Toby Belch and Stephen Ouimette as his hilarious sidekick Sir Andrew Aguecheek, this production thrilled audiences throughout the 2011 season. Featuring an innovative eclectic score reflecting the history of rock and roll, Twelfth Night recounts the story of Viola (Andrea Runge), a young woman shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria, who adopts a male disguise to enter the service of Duke Orsino (Mike Shara), only to find herself part of a triangle of unrequited love. Meanwhile, in the household of Orsino’s love interest, the Countess Olivia (Sara Topham), Sir Toby Belch (Dennehy) and his unruly companions trick Olivia’s strict and disapproving steward, Malvolio (Tom Rooney), into believing that she loves him. Hailed by critics as a thrilling theatrical event and embraced by capacity audiences as peerless entertainment, Twelfth Night reaches through the generations to bring the wonder of Shakespeare to audiences of all ages.
