Born in Kentucky, Elizabeth Ellis and her stories are rich in the tradition of Appalachia. After a 10 year stretch as a children?s librarian, she began a 25 year career as a professional storyteller, recounting riveting Appalachian and Texan tales and stories of heroic American women, though her personal stories are arguably her best.

"Invariably hilarious and fascinating" - Johnson City (Tennessee) Press Chronicle
"One of America's finest storytellers." - School Library Journal

She was the first recipient of the John Henry Faulk Award from the Tejas Storytelling Association. In 1997, Elizabeth received the circle of Excellence Award from the National Storytelling Association given to individuals for their efforts in preserving the art and for setting standards of excellence in the field of storytelling.
