BLINDSIDED
DENVER, – Stories on Stage presents “Blindsided” as part of their Always on Sunday series featuring Kathy Chalfant, Kirk Montgomery, Candy Brown and Ian Merrill Peakes. Show times are 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 20 in the Stage Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Single tickets are $25; tickets for groups of 10 or more are $20 per person and LoDough (scholarship) tickets are also available. Life provides an endless series of surprises, and we sometimes feel blindsided by fate, but are we? Does fate really wield such magnificent power, or do we all have a hand in our own destinies?
Dracula in Missouri by Brad Bellamy, read by Kirk Montgomery
Brad Bellamy is an accomplished actor who has performed at the Denver Center Theatre Company,
Actor's Theatre of Louisville, Dallas Theatre Center and Off-Broadway. Film: “Undone”, “Ira and Abby”, “Adventures of Arthur Conan Doyle”; TV: special musical guest, ABC’s “On the Edge”, “Law and Order SVU”, “Conviction”, various soaps and many TV commercials. His writing includes The Man Who Shot the Man Who Shot Jesse James and John Wayne Never Slept Here.

Kirk Montgomery is the Emmy Award winning Entertainment Reporter/Anchor at Denver’s 9NEWS. He films include Suburban, A Gathering of Heroes, Serpent Rising and his television appearances include Days of our Lives, Passions, Scrubs, General Hospital, Third Watch and Ed. Mr. Montgomery's professional career started in radio in Jackson, Michigan. He has held various positions in broadcasting, working in Los Angeles, CA ; Tampa, FL; Detroit, MI; Chico, CA; and Lansing, MI.
He Was a Good Lion by Beryl Markham, read by Kathy Chalfant
Beryl Markham, the Kenyan aviatrix, is best known for her celebrated memoir West with the Night, first published in 1942--and an international bestseller upon its republication in 1982. Beryl made aviation history in 1936, when she became the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean from East to West.
Award-winning actress Kathy Chalfant has worked on and off-Broadway (Angels in America, Wit), in film (Duplicity, Kinsey) and television (Rescue Me and Mercy). Ms. Chalfant received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for Angels in America and the Drama Desk, OBIE and Outer Critics Awards for Wit.
What Language is That? by Uwem Akpan, read by Candy Brown
Uwem Akpan is a Nigerian Jesuit priest and writer. He is the author of Say You’re One of Them (2008), a collection of five stories (each set in a different African country) published by Little, Brown & Company. It was picked by the Oprah Winfrey Book Club on September 17, 2009. Entertainment Weekly put the book on its end-of-the-decade, "best-of" list.

Candy Brown, a longtime actor with Denver Center Theatre Company, was performing on Broadway in Pippin in 1974 when Michael Bennett convened 18 dancers at midnight in a New York gym. What happened that night - and into the next morning - became one of the longest-running, most beloved musicals ever – A Chorus Line.” Lisa Bornstein, RMN. Ms. Brown performed with Gwen Verdon in Chicago and Cab Caloway in Hello Dolly. She was seen in the 2001 blockbuster filmAli and has appeared in Six Feet Under, CSI: Miami, NYPD Blue and Chicago Hope.

Anton Chekhov was a Russian short-story writer, playwright and physician, considered to be one of the greatest short-story writers in the history of world literature. His career as a dramatist produced four classics and his best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics.
