DENVER, – Stories on Stage presents As Time Goes By as part of their Always on Sunday series, featuring Nick Sugar, Jeanne Paulsen, Ping Wu and John Hutton on Sunday, February 21 in the Stage Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Show times are 1:30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. Single tickets are $25, tickets for groups of 10 or more are $20 per person and LoDough (scholarship) tickets are also available. “Gabriella, My Heart” by Cristina Henriquez, read by Nick Sugar

“A tender love story about not living happily ever after”.

Cristina Henríquez’s stories have been published in The New Yorker, Glimmer Train, Ploughshares, TriQuarterly, and AGNI. She was featured in Virginia Quarterly Review as one of "Fiction's New Luminaries," and is a recipient of the Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation Award, a grant for emerging Texas Writers started by Sandra Cisneros in honor of her father. Henríquez’s first book is Come Together, Fall Apart (Penguin), a collection of stories and a novella.

Prior to moving to Denver Nick Sugar worked in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and New York. Nick serves on the Board of Directors for The Colorado Theater Guild and Town Hall Arts Center. Nick has been honored with several awards including Denver Post Ovation Award, Director of the Year in 2007 and 2008; 2007 Henry Award, Direction (Dog Sees God); 2006 Henry Award, Direction (The Rocky Horror Show).

“The Debutante's Return” by Jay McInerney, read by Jeanne Paulsen

“After a lifetime of being a perfect lady, Sybil Teasdale takes those white gloves off in style”.

Jay McInerney novels include Bright Lights, Big City; Ransom; Story of My Life; Brightness Falls; and The Last of the Savages. He edited The Penguin Book of New American Voices, wrote the screenplay for the 1988 film adaptation of Bright Lights, Big City, and co-wrote the screenplay for the television film Gia, which starred Angelina Jolie. He was the wine columnist for House & Garden magazine, and his essays on wine have been collected in Bacchus & Me (2000) and A Hedonist in the Cellar (2006). His most recent novel is titled The Good Life, published in 2006.

“In the Reign of Harad IV” by Steven Millhauser, read by Ping Wu

A gifted artist pursues his vision into infinity

Steven Millhauser is the author of five previous collections of short stories and five novels, including the Pulitzer Prize winning Martin Dressler. His story Eisenheim the Illusionist, from his collection The Barnum Museum, was the basis for the 2006 film The Illusionist. Millhauser lives in Sarasota Springs, New York, and teaches at Skidmore College.

Ping Wu first appeared with Stories on Stage last year reading Ha Jin’s The House Behind a Weeping Cherry. Regional Credits include: East West Players, Playwrights' Arena, The Robey Theatre Company, Inner City Cultural Center, Tiffany Theater, Fremont Centre Theatre, Mark Taper Forum. Film includes I Love You, Man, The Iron Triangle (with Beau Bridges), The Doctor (with William Hurt), Six Days Seven Nights, Point Break, The Hunt for Red October. Television appearances include Pushing Daisies, Chuck, Numbers, Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement, Boston Legal, My Name is Earl, Grey's Anatomy, 24, NYPD Blue and Seinfeld.



“Changes in the Memory After 50” by Steve Martin, read by John Hutton

Of course this will never happen to you or me...well maybe to you, but NEVER to me.

Steve Martin has been awarded an Emmy, a Grammy and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. He has been seen (or heard) in over 40 movies, released five albums and hosted Saturday Night Live 15 times (an all time record)! His writings include the popular plays Picasso at the Lapin Agile and The Underpants; the books Cruel Shoes and Born Standing Up along with many screenplays that include The Jerk, L.A. Story, Roxanne and Shopgirl.

John Hutton is a member of The Denver Center Theater Company now in his18th season. Recent credits: Trip to Bountiful, Richard III, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Measure for Measure, Plainsong; Other Regional Credits: The Goodman Theatre, Centerstage, Huntington Theatre Company, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Roundabout Theatre, Book-It Repertory (Seattle), The Old Globe (San Diego), Curious Theatre Company (Denver). He received the 2007 Best of Westword for Best Actor in a Comedy (Fiction). John also played Peter Love on Another World.
