Sydney Theatre Company collaborates with British physical theatre innovators Frantic Assembly for the razor-sharp Stockholm by Bryony Lavery (Frozen) and after a successful season at the Wharf Theatre, Stockholm comes to Riverside Theatres from May 26 to 29.

This exciting, energetic and powerful piece stars Australian actors Socratis Otto and Leeanna Walsman, who play Todd and Kali, a self styled blissfully happy couple. Todd and Kali live in a funky, tasteful pad, enjoy the occasional arthouse film, celebrate birthdays with fabulous getaways and have
fantastic sex. On the eve of their trip to Sweden’s capital, hidden away from the world, families, friends and love rivals, they are at their happiest. However, as the evening proceeds, their immaculate kitchen may be as dangerous as it is beautiful and the lines between tenderness and cruelty are blurred with shocking results.

The innovative production uses a unique approach combining dance, music, design and text to dramatise a relationship that is founded on co-dependency, obsession and passion.

“This wonderful production is a ground breaking piece of physical theatre; it’s fresh, energetic and sexy. It’s incredibly exciting to have Stockholm playing at Riverside Theatres – this is one show not to be missed” said Director of Riverside Theatres, Robert Love.

Formed in 1994 by Artistic Director Scott Graham and Steven Hoggett, Frantic Assembly is one of the UK’s most exciting and unique companies, working collaboratively to produce uncompromising shows that place equal emphasis on movement, design, music and text. While Australian audiences have seen Hoggett’s award winning choreography for Black Watch.

Thrilling in its exploration of form, Stockholm is provocative and unsettling, leaving you with questions buzzing in your head.

British company Frantic Assembly's highly physical approach to drama is compelling… It's all extremely entertaining and the performances are unmissable. In a literally bruising play, Otto is magnetic and brave and Walsman is remarkable.
