Steven Wright is bringing his comedic brilliance back to Penn’s Peak!!

Known for his deadpan delivery, Steven Wright has built up quite a following on his stand up alone. He did not break into the big screen or the sitcom circuit like most comedians of his time, but he did manage to win an Oscar for his short “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings” (1988). He was the co-producer, co-writer and one of the co-stars in the film. He cites George Carlin and Woody Allen among his influences in the comedy world.
He began performing stand-up in the late 70’s in the Boston comedy clubs and by 1982 he made his first of nine appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” Soon after his first appearance, Home Box Office (HBO) noticed him and gave him his first chance to headline a TV special, “On Location: Steven Wright.” In 1986 Wright appeared on the first “Comic Relief” and has performed a routine on each one since then. He was #23 out of 100 on Comedy Central’s list of the Greatest Stand-Up Comics. He also played a support role as a laconic cameraperson on “Mad About You” with Paul Reiser. Wright’s screen debut came in 1985 as Larry Stillman the dentist in “Desperately Seeking Susan.” From here he appeared in a handful of movies including “Reservoir Dogs,” “So I Married An Axe Murderer” and he was the voice of a turtle named, ironically, Speed in the animated children’s film “The Swan Princess.”
