Named San Francisco Chronicle’s “Top Ten Dance Performances of the Year” for several years, the 2009 BAY AREA RHYTHM EXCHANGE returns to celebrate the uniquely American art form of tap dance. In this annual production, Bay Area Tap Festival artists perform to live musical accompaniment at San Francisco’s historic Herbst Theatre.

The diverse, multi-generational cast features tap all-stars from Broadway, film, and the concert stage, including Special Guests Ted L. Levy (Black & Blue, Jelly’s Last Jam), Channing Cook Holmes (Riverdance, Gangs of New York, Bojangles), Festival Director John Kloss (Tap Heat), Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards (Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk; Bamboozled), Sam Weber (Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood), and San Francisco’s own Barbary Coast Cloggers.

This event is the exciting culmination of STEPOLOGY’s 2009 Bay Area Tap Festival, which also features a week-long workshop with Festival artists, hosted by San Francisco Dance Center. More information about all events is available at stepology.com.
