Stella! is comprised of four of Michigan's most talented singer songwriters; Jen Sygit, Jo Serrapere, Diana Ladio and Laura Bates.

Stella! is a four-piece, all-women, American roots band from Detroit, Michigan. They have been referred to as a singer-songwriter super group with three vocal harmonies and two writer voices. Stella!, partly named after her baby daughter, was first conceived of by songwriter Jo Serrapere after a conversation with American music critic and Creem Magazine co-founder Dave Marsh. Jo was inspired to put together a new group where she could showcase her country-roots songwriting. Eclectic writer Jo Serrapere, who credits Tom Waits as her strongest inspiration, is the founding member of the all-female string band, Uncle Earl. She has had two appearances on National Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion” and three albums with her band, Jo Serrapere and the Willie Dunns. Stella! began working on a new album this spring in Brooklyn, NY under the supervision/patronage of Dave Marsh (Michigan native, co-founder of Creem Magazine and celebrated rock critic). The album is being produced by Adam Druckman with assistance from Larry Eagle (percussionist and background vocalist on Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions album).
