STATELESS: A new piece with live music by DAN WOLF created and performed with TOMMY SHEPHERD directed by SEAN SAN JOSE + a live performance by FELONIOUS -- Live hip hop band called ?BEST HIP HOP BAND 2004/2005? by the SF Bay Guardian With special guests The Loyalists

Felonious: onelovehiphop and Oakland Metro present Stateless, a new performance work that blends hip hop music, vaudeville, live beatboxing and German, Jewish and African American history to explore the space in between in our collective memory. Written by Dan Wolf and created and performed with Tommy Shepherd, Stateless runs for one night only; Friday December 9th.

Wolf and Shepherd are founding members of the award-winning, live hip-hop band Felonious, as well as longtime resident artists with Intersection's Hybrid Project, a live performance series that fuses beats, dance, poetry and live music in a search for new ways to use performance to communicate.

Stateless draws upon the diverse histories of the past with musical forms of today to explore a common ground and to move toward the future while constantly redefining hip hop theatre and performance art. Inspired by a 42-page letter written to Wolf by his grandfather, and given to him years after his grandfather?s death, Stateless unveils Wolf?s family history, his family?s struggle growing up Jewish In Germany during WWII and the story of his famous Vaudevillian ancestors. Through hip hop and live beatboxing, Stateless simultaneously connects and reflects on Shepherd's disparate history as an African American.

Stateless was premiered in May and June of 2005 for six sold out performances at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco's Mission District. It was then presented as a part of Real Time, an international communication project involving artists from the US, Israel, Palestine and Germany, in Hamburg Germany. Since the premiere it has been presented on the opening night of the Bay Area Hip Hop Theater Festival at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts as well as at various local venues.
