Founded to help people caring for their aging elders and loved ones, Caring.com provides eldercare guidance from experts and people who've "been there" as caregivers, along with time-saving tips and person-to-person support through online connections with millions of other people in caregiving situations. It combines the best of Web 1.0 (thoroughly researched original content) with Web 2.0 (active communities of users with similar concerns).

Caring.com has $6M in Series A funding from DCM and Split Rock Partners, and went live in the fall of 2007.

Andy and his co-founders, Steve Fram and Jim Scott, have started or been early employees of several previous ground-breaking ventures, including BabyCenter (launched in late 90's and acquired by eToys, then Johnson & Johnson), PeaPod (a pioneering online grocery service from the early 90's), Instill, a provider of supply chain solutions to the food service industry, and Intuit's first forays on the web in the mid-90s.

About the speaker:

Andy Cohen, Chief Executive Officer and a co-founder, oversees the company's operations and finances, with the goal of establishing Caring.com as the premiere website for people taking care of their parents and other aging loved ones. Andy has launched four successful web businesses, taking them from start-up to tens of millions of dollars in revenue. In a 20-year career before founding Caring.com, he held leadership positions in management, marketing, and sales with S.C. Johnson Wax, Intuit, Peapod, Instill, and SuccessFactors. He serves on the board of directors for two non-profit organizations -- Volunteers in Asia (VIA) and the Los Altos Educational Foundation. Andy holds a B.A. in history from Stanford University and an M.B.A. in marketing from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management.
