Stap[e was founded 10 years ago by a group of East Coast transplants who wanted to bring a fresh sound to San Francisco's booming dance music scene. With its innovative mix of future house and deep techno, Stap[e continues to thrive in the Bay Area. Co-founders Fil Latorre and Killswitch's DJ Javaight are proud to present one of their earliest influences, Onionz, along with "San Francisco's very own tidal wave of techno," Alland Byallo, to help celebrate Stap[e's 10th anniversary.

Onionz has more than 30 years of experience and has rocked dancefloors across the globe with his unique blend of house, techno and disco. Alland Byallo is another music globetrotter, who also creates his own productions with Nightlight Music and is a founding resident of one of SF's best techno parties, [KONTROL]. As the founders of Stap[e look back at a decade of rhythms and revelry, they are proud to feature two artists who share their vision for a flourishing future in electronic music.

About Onionz:

It's 1982 the school park is rocking and the early sounds of a young DJ are pumping through the streets. Meet "Onionz", coming straight out of Queens, NY with a couple of turntables and setting the party off right. Since the beginning, spinning records for Onionz has always been about transformation, making the room move to where you want it to be, taking the rhythm and making it change without a seam. A complete metamorphosis of not just art, but life... a life lived, relived, and filled with music.

His earliest musical influence came from his dad, Victor Venegas. Victor played upright bass with the kings of Latin Jazz: Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. Onionz learned to play percussion along side his father before he was ten, appearing on stage with his father at different times with Candido, Steve Berrios and Paquito DeRivera.

His early gigs were the legendary nights and early mornings at almost every NYC spot imaginable. When, his following became nationwide there was nothing left to do, but take his love for music global. As a fan favorite and house hero, Onionz still pushed for more, he's developed and evolved.

From House to Techno, Breaks to Disco... it's always been about diversity for Onionz. His time on the road cemented relationships with DJs and producers from city to city and in over 30 different countries. The results of his labor of love and respected relationships have helped to establish over 100 studio projects and counting.

With over 30 years of music under his belt, a heavy travel itinerary, and multiple production and remix projects taking place, he has definitely kept the dance floor moving. As Onionz would say; to keep it fresh, you just have to continuously create and consistently rock it!

About Alland Byallo:

If you don't know about Alland, then you don't know SF techno. Having been raised with music since the age of 5, Alland made the progression from musician, to DJ, producer, and head for his own Nightlight music label. His productions have been released on Liebe*Detail, Floppy Funk, Utensil, and SF's own Dirtybird. As resident at [KONTROL] and frequent guest across the country and Europe, Alland has also shared the decks with names like Superpitcher, Trentemoller, Michael Mayer, Swayzak, Miss Kittin, Modeselektor, Claude VonStroke, Jeff Samuel, Heartthrob, Ambivalent and many others.

After performing a rare live set at Seattle‘s Decibel Festival and DJing at Lovefest SF in 2007, playing the Beatport Stage at DEMF 2008, a DJ performance at Decibel 2008, and a successful European mini-tour including gigs at such world famous clubs as Panorama Bar (Berlin), Propoganda (Moscow) and T-Bar (London), it’s obvious that the future looks bright for both him and his label, Nightlight Music.

About Stap[e:

Staple is a San Francisco based collective of DJs, producers and collaborative artists, currently represented by dj's Fil "Noir" Latorre and David "Javaight" Javate.

Staple was founded in 1999 by Fil Latorre, Michael Minnich, Tony Roam and Jeff Brillhart, and the musical focus has always been on deep, quality dance music. House and Techno genres become blurred when the focus is on the music. Be it House, Techno, Electro or Acid, playing good music is Staple's top priority.

Staple was innovative during its day because it featured the best underground talent in dance music on a weekly basis, featuring guests such as Layo & Bushwacka!, Stacey Pullen, Dan Bell, Jori Hulkonnen, Common Factor, Boo Williams, Mark Ambrose and Alexi Delano. Staple provided a fresh vibe culminating in being awarded Best House Night by the SF Bay Guardian, among other awards.

In 2001, Staple took things to another level with their monthly party, 'Refuge', at the Endup, San Francisco's locale for House music. During this time, Dirty Crew/Optimal dj Javaight was added to the collective as a resident. Refuge carried on the tradition of deepness by featuring guests such as John Tejada, JT Donaldson, Theo Parrish, Alton Miller, Glenn Underground, the Rurals, and Jeno.
